Summary

We are looking for patient, knowledgeable, and experienced private tutors to help our students improve their grades and confidence in school. Our ideal candidate will have a university degree in education or a related field, as well as experience working with children in a one-on-one setting. He or she will be able to tailor their teaching methods to our student’s learning styles and needs and be able to provide progress reports regularly. We are looking for teachers who are available to tutor for 2-3 hours per day, 3-5 days per week.

Deep knowledge of Cameroon GCE Advanced Level and/or GCE Ordinary Level curriculum, as regards Arts subjects, Science subjects and/or Commercial/Technical subjects, is necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Understand the goals and objectives of each student, and develop individualized lesson plans to help them succeed
• Maintain a positive and supportive relationship with students, providing feedback and encouragement
• Keep up to date on new teaching methods and approaches, and be willing to incorporate them into your lessons as appropriate
• Be patient with students, adapting your teaching style as needed to ensure they are engaged and understand the material
• Help students develop strong study habits and time management skills
• Encourage students to set personal goals and work towards achieving them
• Assist students in preparing for exams, including providing practice materials and test-taking strategies
• Meet with Excel Academy regularly to discuss student's progress
• Keep accurate records of student attendance, grades, and other relevant information
• Attend professional development workshops and seminars as needed
• Stay abreast of changes in the curriculum and state/national standards
• Perform other duties as assigned

Required Skills and Qualifications

• Preferably at least a bachelor’s degree in a domain related to the subject you are applying for.
• Bachelor’s degree holders must have a minimum of 1-year experience in teaching or tutoring. This information must be verifiable
• For undergraduates (university students) a justifiable minimum of 6 months teaching experience is necessary.
• Exceptional communication, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to develop individualized lesson plans and adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of the student
• Patience and creativity
• Flexibility to work around the schedules of students and their families
• Experience developing and implementing curriculum
• Fluency in the English language

Working Conditions

• This is a part-time job/ Contract position
• Tutors work in the homes of their students, and online.
• Tutors may work with students of all ages, from Primary school to High school level.
• Tutors will work with students who are struggling in a particular subject and need extra help to catch up or keep up with their classmates.
• Tutors may work with students who have learning disabilities or who are English language learners.
• Tutors will typically work one-on-one with students, but they may also work with small groups of students.
• Tutors typically work in the evening or on weekends to accommodate their students’ schedules.

Remuneration

• No fixed amount for remuneration.
• Teachers will earn between 15,000 FRS - 150,000 FRS.
