Network Engineer (CCNP/ISP/Telco)

One of our clients in Australia is seeking a “Network Engineer (CCNP/ ISP/ Telco experience)”. We are looking for candidates who are passionate about network engineering and who like to come up with new ideas for improvement and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Networking Monitoring, Reporting and Traffic Engineering
  • Providing level 2/3 support for escalated tickets and resolving deep technical issues.
  • Planning, communicating and implementation of network changes along with configuration and deployment of networking devices.
  • Communicate ideas and information to people from non-technical backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience. Should have worked in a TELCO /ISP/ Broadband service provider.
  • Candidates with experience in a TELCO and Broad Band service provider would be preferred.
  • CCNP certified or equivalent level of knowledge.
  • Knowledge and experience with networking products including Cisco and Juniper.
  • Sound understanding of the following technologies: IP Protocols (ICMP, UDP, TCP); IP filtering and firewalling; Routing Protocols (BGP,OSPF, EIGRP); Quality of Service; MPLS; Ethernet (STP, RSTP, 1qVLANs, QinQ).
  • Good working knowledge of BRAS / LNS / L2TP / DSL.
  • Troubleshoot and support layer 2 and layer 3 protocols (eg: Spanning tree, Vlans, BGP, MPLS).
  • A strong understanding of fixed wireless networks would be advantageous.
  • Network design, documentation and implementation.
  • Configuration and usage of network monitoring tools (eg: Traverse, OpenNMS, Cacti, etc).
  • Available to work on a rotating on-call roster.

  • The person must be a self –starter and should have the ability to work on his own.
  • Psychographics- A go-getter, a survivor, and with a can-do attitude.
  • Able to analyse problems and conduct effective fault diagnosis and system recovery.
  • Clear communicator (written and verbal). The person needs to be directly communicating with the customer via emails and phone calls. Answer inbound calls directly from customers and internal stakeholders and staff.
  • Capable of prioritising and managing own workload.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Capable of working/using own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Keen to contribute ideas, share knowledge and help others develop.
  • Interest in leading edge technologies. Keen to develop own skills and knowledge.
