Designation: Manager - Housekeeping (Full Time)
Location: Colombo
Responsibility
- Ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness throughout all the service areas.
- Ensure that housekeeping staff assigned to other departments perform duties in accordance with the house keeping departmental procedure and hospital policies.
- Train and guide new employees on the hospital policies and procedures and ensure proper inuring of staff members as guided by the supervisor.
- Take necessary actions to make internal customers request services through job cards and maintain records of jobs performed.
- Monitor the hospital occupancy report to determine allocation of task for housekeeping assistant.
- Assist the process of performance appraisal of all housekeeping assistants and preparing guidelines and time frames for improvement.
- Inuring all new staff of the department to its facilities, policies, tasks, procedures and standards to ensure the highest standard of service.
- Arranging staff schedules, rosters to ensure sufficient staff to over workload and minimize overtime payments.
- Controlling inventory of all stock items including line, cleaning agents, monitoring all activities with regard to assigned ones and report irregularities immediately.
- Providing current information to housekeeping assistants and patient about hospital facilities.
- Responding to patient request and attending to patient complaints immediately and exercise proper discipline and courtesy in attending to the patient needs/request.
- Responsible to the careful and adequate use of equipment and for the proper maintained of the same.
- Providing assistants to patients in all hospital emergency evacuation and medical procedures.
- Ensure adherence of all housekeeping assistants to the grooming standard of the hospital.
- Ensure non-disclosure of confidentiality of the patient, staff or organization.
- Responsible to effectively assign duties of housekeeping Executives and housekeeping Supervisors within the hospital premises.
- Personally monitor and supervise cleanliness of outsource housekeeping areas within the hospital.
- Implement strategies to retain the housekeeping staff within the hospital premises.
- Promote team work within laundry and Linen section and Housekeeping section and maintain strong interdepartmental relations
- Recommends equipment, linen and chemical purchasing needs to Department Head in budget preparation.
- Manage overall daily operations of the Laundry and Linen Room
- Is responsible for supervising the duties perform by Laundry Supervisor.
- Is responsible for de-centralization of all services in the Laundry and Linen section.
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in housekeeping in an Executive or above position.
- Diploma or relevant professional qualification from a recognized institution.
