Responsibilities
- Driving the APE team’s initiatives to establish best practices, standards and processes across the different application/system teams within the company
- Build familiarity of log/monitoring tools (APM, infrastructure, synthetics, browser, mobile) within company’s technical teams
- Increasing overall monitoring and logging tools adoption and coverage
- Coaching development team members to independently perform in-depth issues analysis and root cause analysis using the monitoring tools.
- Ensure New Relic agents (APM, Infrastructure etc.) are properly instrumented for the different applications and OS environments
- Enable auto incident ticketing through the integration of New Relic platform and the enterprise incident (ITSM) ticketing platform
- Ensure all monitoring alerts are actionable, reducing/eliminating alert noise when possible
- Helping the teams on planning and rolling out complex monitoring solutions such as multiplatform deployments, advanced queries (NRQL) and customised dashboards
- Provide assistance to development teams when investigating customer impacting incidents that requires complex analysis
- Provide support to the QA Engineers during load testing by monitoring the various performance metrics/indicators and help to identify performance bottlenecks
Requirements
- Bachelors in Computer science or Information Technology
- At least 5 years of experience in application monitoring, hands on experience with NewRelic preferred
- Solid understanding of telemetry principles and software development methodologies
- Experience in monitoring tool instrumentation on different platforms (VMs, cloud native services, containers, customised cloud platforms) . Experience on AWS data analytics services is a plus.
- Experience in onboarding applications to monitoring/log consolidation (gathering requirements, gap analysis, production rollout, parsing log data, data storage management, log rotation)
- Experience in the following technologies is preferred: (New Relic, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, AWS Cloudwatch)
- Experience with application load testing and tools (e.g. Load Runner) is a plus
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
