- Receiving, labeling and safely storing samples to be tested
- Determining and performing tests needed for the analysis and report
- Recording tests and analyses and then reporting the results
- Discussing and answering any questions regarding the results
- Ensuring that safety guidelines are adhered to at all times within the laboratory.
- Perform various tests on construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates according to established standards and procedures.
- Record and analyze test results accurately, maintaining detailed records for reference.
- Assist in the development and implementation of quality control processes to ensure compliance with industry regulations and project specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and other team members to troubleshoot and resolve any issues related to material quality or performance.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory space and equipment.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and advancements in testing methodologies.
- Maintaining equipment records and daily work logs
- Staying current on technical and scientific advances in their field
- Ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
- Providing technical support, when necessary.
- Maintain the accreditation of the lab, update all lab manual and test manual
REQUIREMENTS/QUALITIFCATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Valid laboratory technician license (not necessary).
- Minimum 5 years experience working as a lab technician.
- Working experience operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.
- In depth knowledge of QHSE management systems, preventative measures, and laboratory best practices.
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite and database systems.
- Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Analytical skills.
- Proven experience as a Lab Technician in the civil engineering and construction industry.
- Proficiency in conducting various laboratory tests on construction materials.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording and analyzing test results.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and regulations.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
