Company Overview:

A prominent and well-established company operating in Papua New Guinea is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Financial Controller. This executive search is being conducted on behalf of our client, who wishes to remain confidential at this stage. The successful candidate will be a strategic financial leader with a proven track record of managing financial operations and driving business performance.

Position Overview:

The Financial Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company, including financial planning and analysis, budgeting, reporting, and compliance. This role requires a meticulous professional with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of financial management in a complex business environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Planning and Analysis:

Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s business objectives. Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to senior management for decision-making. Prepare detailed financial reports, forecasts, and budgets.

Budgeting and Reporting:

Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and monitor performance against budgetary targets. Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders. Present financial reports and findings to the board of directors and executive management.

Compliance and Risk Management:

Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements. Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets. Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring business continuity and stability.

Financial Operations Management:

Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger. Ensure efficient and effective financial processes and systems. Manage cash flow and optimize the company’s financial position.

Team Leadership and Development:

Build and lead a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Recruit, train, and mentor staff to enhance their skills and performance. Conduct regular performance reviews and implement development plans for team members.

Strategic Business Partnering:

Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives. Collaborate with senior management to drive business performance and achieve growth targets.

Support strategic decision-making through financial analysis and modeling.

Audit and Tax Management:

Coordinate and manage external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure successful audit outcomes. Oversee tax planning and compliance, ensuring timely and accurate tax filings. Implement tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; CPA or equivalent professional qualification preferred. Minimum of 6 years of experience in finance. Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards.

Proven track record of managing financial operations and driving business performance. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Experience in a multinational or complex business environment is preferred. Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
