Key accountabilities/responsibilities
1. Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement the company’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to support growth, investments, and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with leadership on business planning, forecasting, and financial decision-making.
2. Financial and Accounting Operations
- Manage all accounting operations, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
3. Budgeting and Financial Management
- Lead the budgeting process, including setting, monitoring, and reviewing budgets for all departments.
- Monitor cash flow and liquidity to support the company’s operational and strategic needs.
- Develop financial models and forecasts to guide short- and long-term planning.
4. Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with all tax, legal, and regulatory requirements, including VAT, payroll, and corporate filings.
- Establish and maintain internal controls to protect company assets and ensure data integrity.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and other regulatory authorities.
5. Process Improvement and Systems
- Evaluate and optimise financial systems, tools, and processes to improve accuracy and efficiency.
- Drive the adoption of technology and automation in financial operations to streamline workflows.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks while ensuring compliance with best practices.
6. Team Leadership and Collaboration
- Build and manage a high-performing finance team, providing training, mentorship, and professional development.
- Partner with other departments to provide financial insights and support for business initiatives.
- Act as the primary contact for banks, investors, and other financial stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or working towards one.
- Proven experience in a finance and accounting leadership role. Minimum 8 years in leadership role managing a team
- Able to demonstrate delivery of strategic outcomes for a team
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of financial regulations, accounting standards, and reporting.
Desirable:
- Experience in financial strategy, business planning, and forecasting.
- Familiarity with industry-specific financial practices.
- Familiarity of Accounting systems in the United Kingdom
