The Content and Development Manager will oversee the content team's strategic direction and daily operations, ensuring high-quality content that aligns with program objectives. They will manage and mentor the content team, collaborate with program operations, and secure funding through grant writing and tenders.
Key accountabilities/responsibilities
1. Content strategy and planning
- Develop and implement content strategy that aligns with organisational goals and target audience needs
- Oversee content development projects, managing timelines, and resources
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution
2. Content creation and curation
- Write, edit, and review a variety of academic and other content types (e.g., articles, reports, website copy, social media posts)
- Ensure content is accurate, engaging, and aligned with the organisation’s brand voice and messaging
- Adhere to brand guidelines, editorial standards, and SEO best practices
3. External funding and partnerships
- Research and identify grant funding opportunities and potential partners
- Prepare and submit high-quality grant proposals and tender applications
- Liaise with funders and partners, build and maintain relationships
4. Grant funding
- Develop and implement strategies to maximise grant funding success and increase revenue from grants
- Track and measure the effectiveness of grant funding and incentivisation strategies
- Report on grant funding outcomes and return on investment (ROI) to senior management
5. Cross-functional collaboration
- Collaborate with marketing, communications, and programme teams to identify content needs and develop integrated content strategies
- Provide content support for programme initiatives, campaigns, and events
- Ensure content is delivered on time and within budget
6. Team leadership and development
- Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to content team members
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set clear expectations, and identify training and development opportunities
- Recruit and onboard new team members as needed
- Report on content performance and team progress to senior management
Essential qualifications and experience
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Education, Communications, Journalism, English, Marketing, Business Development, or a related field.
- Proven experience in content strategy, development, and team leadership.
- Strong writing, editing, and content curation skills with an eye for detail.
- Experience in grant writing, securing funding, and managing partnerships.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with SEO, digital content marketing, and branding best practices is desirable.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
