We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic External Relations Director to oversee and advance our company’s relationships with government entities, regulatory bodies, and the public sector while enhancing the company’s public image and executive communication strategies. This role requires strong competencies in Government Relations (GR), Public Relations (PR), and Executive Management. The ideal candidate will be a male professional with extensive experience and the ability to independently devise and implement high-level strategies that align with the company’s mission and objectives.
This role involves establishing partnerships, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering communication channels that create a favorable external environment for business growth. Experience with top-tier companies, state-owned enterprises, or direct public sector engagement is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Government Relations & Public Sector Engagement:
Build and sustain strong, strategic relationships with key government officials, regulatory bodies, and policy influencers.
Represent the company in high-level governmental meetings, negotiations, and forums to advance business objectives.
Ensure timely communication and effective responses to government policies, regulations, and inquiries.
2. Public Relations Strategy:
Develop and execute comprehensive public relations strategies to enhance the company’s reputation and public image.
Manage crisis communication plans and act as a spokesperson when necessary to protect the company's interests.
Oversee media relations, public statements, and communication materials for external distribution.
3. Strategic Planning & Implementation:
Formulate and implement external relations strategies that support the company's growth, regulatory compliance, and corporate goals.
Align government relations and public relations activities with overall corporate strategies and headquarters’ directives.
4. Executive Management & Communication:
Collaborate with senior executives to shape messaging for external stakeholders, including government bodies and the public.
Provide strategic counsel to the leadership team on public policy, regulatory changes, and external affairs.
5. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
Ensure company practices adhere to current regulations and licensing requirements, particularly in sensitive domains such as finance and industry-specific compliance.
Monitor policy developments and provide timely analysis and recommendations for business adjustments.
6. Stakeholder Relationship Management:
Identify and develop partnerships that support business development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and public-private collaboration initiatives.
Serve as a key point of contact for external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and trust-building efforts.
7. Reporting & Documentation:
Prepare detailed reports and summaries of government and public sector engagements for internal use.
Provide periodic updates to senior leadership on the status of government relations, public perception, and strategic opportunities.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Chinese or other languages is a plus.
Minimum of 10+ years of experience in government relations, public relations, or external affairs.
Demonstrated experience working with government authorities, public sector bodies, or regulatory agencies.
Prior experience in top-tier multinational companies, state-owned enterprises, or similar environments is highly desirable.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.
