Located in Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, this company was established through the collaboration of two global energy leaders. As part of its strategic growth, the company is expanding its operations by constructing a state-of-the-art petrochemical complex, seamlessly integrating with its existing refinery to enhance productivity and maximize operational synergy.

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Standardization Engineer to lead the selection, procurement, and standardization of chemical materials across projects within the organization. This role plays a critical part in ensuring consistency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance in the management of chemical materials. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies to optimize material selection strategies, enhance supply chain efficiency, and support operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Material Standardization & Optimization

  • Develop and implement standardized material selection strategies tailored to chemical applications to ensure quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Conduct comprehensive technical evaluations of chemical materials, assessing composition, purity, compatibility, and regulatory compliance.

  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and process optimization through bulk purchasing, strategic supplier partnerships, and efficient material management.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to enhance chemical material performance and sustainability.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Supplier Management

  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, and project management teams to align material standardization efforts with project requirements.

  • Establish and manage strong supplier and vendor relationships to ensure a reliable supply chain, negotiate favorable terms, and address supply-related challenges.

  • Monitor and assess supplier performance to ensure quality control and continuous improvement in chemical material procurement.

Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and environmental regulations governing chemical materials.

  • Maintain up-to-date material specifications, safety data sheets, and certifications to support procurement and project execution.

  • Implement risk management measures to mitigate potential hazards, ensuring workplace safety and operational efficiency.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Maintain and update material specifications, standards, and documentation to support efficient procurement and project execution.

  • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to material standardization and quality control.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in chemical material management.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, or a related field.

  • Advanced degrees or certifications in standardization, quality management, or regulatory compliance are preferred.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the chemical industry, particularly in material standardization, quality control, or regulatory compliance.

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role is preferred.

  • Strong understanding of chemical standards, industry regulations, and best practices.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Expertise in chemical material selection, procurement, and standardization.

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, environmental standards, and safety protocols.

  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Excellent negotiation and supplier management abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and data analysis tools.

  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects.

  • Strong communication skills, with fluency in English (Arabic is a plus).
