Role Overview

We are looking for a detail-oriented and innovative R&D Supervisor to lead the end-to-end product development process within our growing food manufacturing operation. Based in Surabaya, this role is critical to transforming market insights into commercially successful products that align with our brand’s commitment to quality, safety, and innovation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food technology and proven experience bringing products from concept to commercialization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage R&D initiatives from product ideation to final commercialization, ensuring alignment with business goals and regulatory requirements.

  • Supervise lab-scale development, product testing, and collaboration with manufacturing partners to ensure formulation success and production feasibility.

  • Develop, execute, and monitor R&D project timelines and budgets, including cost of goods sold (COGS) evaluations.

  • Stay current with food industry trends, technologies, and consumer insights to identify and propose innovative product opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with local food safety standards and regulatory guidelines; prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation for regulatory submissions.

  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with quality, production, marketing, and procurement teams to ensure successful product launches.

  • Implement and oversee quality control measures and standard operating procedures to maintain product integrity.

  • Support export-related product development and adaptation when applicable.

  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to R&D team members while maintaining a culture of innovation, efficiency, and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Technology & Safety, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in food and beverage R&D, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

  • Demonstrated success in developing and commercializing food products.

  • Strong technical knowledge in formulation, ingredient functionality, and food processing techniques.

  • Solid understanding of local food regulations, quality standards, and export requirements.

  • Excellent project management, leadership, and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Willing to be based in Surabaya and lead on-site R&D operations.
