Accounts Officer (Receivables & Payables)

About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Officer to join our finance team in Kiunga. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing both Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) functions, ensuring accurate financial records, timely payments, and efficient collection of outstanding debts.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and reconcile Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Process supplier invoices, verify supporting documentation, and ensure timely payments.
• Prepare and issue customer invoices, monitor collections, and follow up on outstanding debts.
• Maintain accurate financial records in the accounting system.
• Reconcile bank statements and supplier/customer accounts.
• Assist in month-end closing, reporting, and audits.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and statutory requirements.
• Liaise with internal departments and external vendors/customers regarding payments and collections.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Accounts Payable and Receivable.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Proficient in MS Excel and accounting software (MYOB).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Experience working in a remote location or similar environment is an advantage.
• Knowledge of PNG tax and compliance requirements.
