Job Role

The Legal Manager will oversee all legal matters in the Mexican entity, ensuring full compliance with local financial regulations, providing legal risk assessment, reviewing contracts, and supporting corporate strategy with legal insight. The role also includes managing external counsel and collaborating closely with HQ on policy development and compliance reporting.

This role is ideal for a highly driven legal professional with a strong understanding of Mexican law and a desire to shape the legal framework of a newly launched financial entity.

Key Responsibilities

• Legal Compliance:
  • Responsible for ensuring the company complies with Mexican laws and regulations in consumer finance operations.
  • Analyze legal risks, provide legal advice, and ensure the company's business activities are in compliance.
• Contract Management:
  • Manage and review contracts with clients, partners, and suppliers, ensuring compliance and enforceability.
  • Assist in negotiating complex financial agreements, provide legal input to protect the company’s interests.
• Compliance Advisory and Internal Collaboration:
  • Participate in legal research, business consultation, and policy development for licensing, intellectual property, labor law, and data governance.
  • Support regular reporting and coordination with HQ, including daily, weekly, and monthly legal updates.
• External Counsel and Resource Management:
  • Establish a multi-dimensional and specialized lawyer pool to meet business needs.

Candidate Requirements

• Nationality: Mexican
• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Law, with valid Mexican legal license
• Experience:
  • More than 5 years of experience in legal roles (law firm or in-house), with at least 2 years of experience in managerial level
  • Prior exposure to financial institutions or credit companies will be highly preferred and prioritized
  • Deep understanding of Mexican financial regulations, familiarity with consumer finance products and transactions
• Language:
  • Native Spanish
  • Working proficiency in English
