Role Overview

MA Café Borella is looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Barista to join our growing team. This entry-level role is perfect for individuals with a passion for coffee, food, and hospitality who want to learn the art of specialty coffee making while delivering warm, friendly service in a lively café atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities

• Support senior baristas in preparing high-quality espresso-based drinks, teas, and other beverages.
• Learn and practice espresso extraction, milk texturing, and latte art under supervision.
• Assist in food preparation, serving, and overall café operations.
• Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders accurately and engaging with guests.
• Maintain café cleanliness and follow hygiene, food safety, and health guidelines.
• Participate in training and performance reviews to develop core barista skills.
• Help with stock handling, restocking, and daily opening/closing duties.

Learning Outcomes

During the trainee period, you will:

• Gain practical knowledge of specialty coffee brewing and service techniques.
• Build confidence in handling customer interactions.
• Understand the basics of café operations and teamwork.
• Be equipped to step into a Barista role.

Qualifications & Skills

• No previous barista experience required (full training provided).
• Strong interest in coffee, food, and hospitality.
• Friendly, positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills (English and Sinhala/Tamil preferred).
• Ability to work in a busy café environment and collaborate with a team.

Work Conditions

• Location: MA Café, Borella.
• Full-time or part-time opportunities available.
• Weekend and holiday shifts required.
• Training duration: 3–6 months with growth potential.
