Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to oversee the financial operations of MA Café and Shirohana Villas. The role requires a professional who can balance day-to-day accounting with broader financial oversight, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clear reporting to management. The Accountant will work closely with operational teams to streamline processes, monitor costs, and support the businesses in achieving their growth and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate books of accounts for MA Café and Shirohana Villas.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, profit & loss reports, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, supplier payments, and customer receipts.
  • Track revenue streams (F&B sales, villa bookings, events, etc.) and ensure timely invoicing.
  • Monitor daily cash handling from outlets and reconcile with POS reports.

Compliance & Controls

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory filings, and internal policies.
  • Implement financial controls to safeguard company assets and prevent discrepancies.
  • Manage audits, liaising with external auditors when required.

Operational Support

  • Support management with budgeting, cost control, and variance analysis.
  • Work with Café and Villa Managers to monitor procurement, supplier contracts, and expense claims.
  • Provide financial insights to optimize profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Professional qualification such as CIMA/ACCA/CA preferred).
  • 3–5 years’ proven experience in accounting (hospitality or F&B sector experience an advantage).
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel.
  • High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills; ability to present financial information clearly to management.
  • Integrity, discretion, and ability to work independently under deadlines.

Work Conditions

  • Based in Colombo with regular interactions at MA Café (Borella) and Shirohana Villas (Kalpitiya).
  • Full-time role with occasional weekend availability during audits or peak operations.
