The Role
We are seeking a Product Owner to lead Payable’s Internet Payment Gateway (IPG) and developer-first checkout platform. Alongside scaling our core platform, you will also manage Complex Solutions—high-value bespoke integrations requiring deep customization. This role combines technical product ownership with commercial impact, demanding a balance between developer experience, enterprise-grade reliability, and scalable platform innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the roadmap for checkout experiences, plugins, SDKs, and APIs.
- Deliver on core payment features including tokenization, recurring payments, subscriptions, 3DS 2.2, and advanced fraud controls.
- Optimize authorization success rates, latency performance, and checkout conversion.
- Lead enterprise solution builds for large merchants while converting learnings into reusable platform modules.
- Champion the developer experience: sandbox environments, documentation, and e-commerce plugins (Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento).
- Collaborate with merchants, acquirers, and regulators on risk, fraud, and compliance.
- Use data analytics and A/B testing to continuously improve funnel performance and reduce drop-off rates.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years of experience in payment gateways, PSPs, or e-commerce platform integrations.
- Strong technical knowledge of APIs, authorization/settlement flows, and latency management.
- Proven track record of delivering conversion-focused checkout products.
- Experience managing bespoke enterprise integrations and translating them into scalable solutions.
- Ability to balance platform scale with tailored enterprise delivery.
- Strong developer empathy combined with commercial acumen.
