As the Purchasing Manager, you are responsible for managing the procurement of hardware, building materials, tools, and related retail inventory. This role ensures the timely and cost-effective sourcing of quality products to meet customer demand and support retail operations across all store locations. The role requires strong supplier relationship management, negotiation skills, and a deep understanding of the hardware retail market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers while fostering strong, long-term relationships with existing vendors.
- Negotiation & Cost Control: Lead all price negotiations, volume discounts, and contract terms to achieve best-in-market pricing and improve Gross Profit Margins.
- Strategic Procurement: Develop and execute purchasing strategies that align with inventory goals, demand forecasts, and category plans.
- Inventory Optimization: Collaborate closely with Category Managers and the Warehouse team to manage lead times, optimize order quantities, and minimize stock outs and excess inventory.
- Compliance & Risk: Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policy, ethical standards, and legal requirements.
Qualifications/Experiences:
- Tertiary education in Business Management, Accounting or related field.
- Able to communicate within all levels of the organization.
- Extensive knowledge in MS Suit Applications, ERP (Pronto Xi advantage is a plus).
- Exemplary planning & time management skills
- Proven experience as Purchasing manager or similar role.
- Demonstrates excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Has a keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- A team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
