Role Description :

We are looking for an experienced Freelance Web Developer to support ongoing website updates and enhancements (10–15 hours per week). You will work with stakeholders to understand requirements, translate them into actionable tasks, and deliver high-quality web solutions—primarily on WordPress. The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and able to work independently while ensuring smooth communication with the team.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and enhance WordPress websites, including custom themes, plugins, and integrations.
• Interpret business and design requirements and convert them into clear, actionable development tasks.
• Optimise website performance, responsiveness, SEO structure, and security best practices.
• Collaborate with the product/design team to implement UI/UX enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, compatibility issues, and performance bottlenecks.
• Execute small web feature releases and updates independently with quick turnaround.
• Conduct technical testing and ensure all deployments meet functional and quality standards.
• Ensure proper documentation of development tasks, configurations, and code changes.
• Maintain effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders regarding progress and deliverables.
• Work in an agile, iterative manner with short delivery cycles.

Years of experience: Minimum 3+ years of hands-on web development experience.

Must have Skills :

• Strong expertise in WordPress (themes, plugins, custom development).
• Proficiency in PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, and responsive design principles.
• Skilled in website optimisation, page speed tuning, caching, and SEO fundamentals.
• Experience with web hosting environments, DNS, cPanel, and deployment workflows.
• Ability to translate requirements into clean, maintainable, and scalable code.
• Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices and mobile responsiveness.
• Familiarity with Git/GitHub or similar version control tools.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet short-term deadlines.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to have skills :

• Experience with WooCommerce or similar eCommerce platforms.
• Knowledge of Figma or similar tools for reviewing design files or prototypes.
• Experience with API integrations, automation scripts, or webhook-based workflows.
• Familiarity with page builders (Elementor, Divi) while still capable of custom development.
• Exposure to React, Vue, or modern front-end frameworks.

Required Attributes:

• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated portfolio of completed web development projects.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
• Proactive, reliable, and committed to delivering high-quality output.
