The Role

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer with a passion for Quality Assurance to join our engineering team. You will be the primary gatekeeper for quality, ensuring that our Chrome Extension and Web Dashboard work flawlessly before they reach our users. This is a technical role—you won't just be clicking buttons; you'll be debugging issues, inspecting network requests, and eventually writing automated tests.

Key Responsibilities

1. Chrome Extension Testing (Critical)

• Capture Reliability: Rigorously test the recording capabilities of the Stepio Chrome Extension across different websites, handling permissions (Microphone/Camera), and ensuring recordings strictly sync with the backend.
• Edge Cases: Test scenarios like "low disk space," "network interruptions," "tab switching," and "browser permissions denied."
• UI/UX Verification: Ensure the extension overlay (popup, waveform, toggles) matches our new premium design specifications.

2. Dashboard & Video Editor QA

• Complex Interactions: Test the React-based Video Editor, specifically looking for bugs in the timeline, segment trimming, and drag-and-drop actions.
• AI Validation: Verify the quality of AI outputs—checking if the Text-to-Speech (TTS) syncs correctly with video segments and if automated zooms land on the right elements.
• Cross-Browser/Platform: Ensure the dashboard performs well on major browsers and varied screen sizes.

3. Technical Troubleshooting

• Triage: Investigate user-reported issues by reproducing them, inspecting the browser console, and checking network logs (DevTools).
• Bug Reporting: Write high-quality, detailed bug reports in Jira/GitHub with standard reproduction steps and video evidence.
• Regression: Perform sanity checks on core workflows (Login -> Record -> Edit -> Export) before every deployment.

Requirements

• Technical Foundation: Basic understanding of how web applications work (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTTP Requests).
• Attention to Detail: You have a "pixel-perfect" eye and notice when a button is 2px off or if an animation jitters.
• Curiosity: You enjoy trying to "break" software by performing unexpected actions.
• Communication: Ability to describe technical problems clearly and concisely.

Nice to Have (Bonus)

• Experience with React or Next.js (so you can help fix small UI bugs directly).
• Interest in Test Automation (Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium).
• Familiarity with FFmpeg or video editing software.
• Experience testing Chrome Extensions.
