Senior Tax Accountants (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

One of our prestigious Australian client is looking for an experienced Senior Tax Accountants to join their offshore team in Sri Lanka.

SALARY: Negotiable (Based on experience and qualifications)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare full sets of Australian financial statements and related disclosures.
  • Prepare and review Australian income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.
  • Perform complex balance sheet reconciliations and year-end adjustments.
  • Prepare tax reconciliation workpapers from accounting profit to taxable income.
  • Manage GST/BAS compliance and reconciliations.
  • Handle CGT calculations and apply relevant exemptions and concessions.
  • Manage Division 7A compliance, including shareholder loans and trust UPEs.
  • Review and mentor junior accountants’ work to maintain quality standards.
  • Support Australian managers with technical advice, analysis, and issue resolution.
  • Manage multiple clients, deadlines, and workflow independently.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Australian public practice accounting and taxation.
  • Proven ability to operate independently at Senior Accountant level.
  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing Australian tax returns across all entity types.
  • Sound technical knowledge of CGT, Division 7A, trust taxation, GST/BAS, and tax reconciliations.
  • Experience managing multiple clients and deadlines in a public practice environment.
  • Prior exposure to offshore or remote delivery models supporting Australian teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CA or CPA qualified (or near completion).
  • Experience mentoring and reviewing junior staff.
  • Exposure to complex group and property-heavy structures.
  • Working knowledge of ATO legislation, rulings, and compliance guidance.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Xero, MYOB AE, APS Tax, and Excel-based workpapers.
