The company operates in the nickel mining industry, focusing on upstream activities to secure a sustainable ore supply chain that supports the global electric vehicle (EV) battery ecosystem and the stainless-steel sector. Its current operations are centered on a significant nickel mining concession in North Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi, which is still in the exploration and infrastructure development phase. Key priorities include land clearing, construction of dedicated hauling roads, and development of a strategic port to facilitate future logistics and shipping.
The operation follows international corporate standards while strictly adhering to Indonesian mining regulations, with a strong commitment to implementing Good Mining Practices (GMP) across all stages, from exploration to eventual commercial production. Job Role:
As the project has not yet reached the production phase, it offers a unique opportunity for professionals to build an operational foundation from the ground up. The HSE Supervisor is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring health, safety, and environmental protocols during the mine's infrastructure and exploration phase. You will ensure that all construction activities for hauling roads and the jetty adhere to zero-harm principles and SMKP standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design: Design, implement, and supervise HSE systems across all activities (mining, hauling, stockpile, jetty, workshop, and contractors).
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to Indonesian K3 and environmental laws, including ESDM and KLHK regulations, and SMKP (Mining Safety Management System) standards.
- Field Inspections: Conduct regular safety patrols, safety talks, and internal HSE audits; ensure all findings are closed out.
- Risk Management: Perform hazard identification, risk assessment, and risk control (HIRADC/JSA) for nickel mining characteristics (ore getting, crushing, shipping, etc.).
- Incident Investigation: Lead investigations for accidents and near-misses, performing Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective actions.
- Environmental Monitoring: Manage hazardous waste (B3), mine water/sediment ponds, dust/erosion control, and RKL-RPL implementation.
- Emergency Response: Coordinate the Emergency Response Program (ERP), including fire and spill response drills.
- Standard Maintenance: Support the maintenance of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
Candidate Requirements:
- Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety (K3), Mining, or Environmental Engineering; minimum POP certification (POM preferred) and specialized K3 Pertambangan certifications.
- Experience: 5+ years in mining HSE roles (HSE Engineer/Officer), preferably with exposure to construction or greenfield projects.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of mining safety regulations, environmental management, SMKP implementation, JSA, and government reporting (ESDM/KLHK); capable of coordinating operational teams and contractors effectively.
- Personal Qualities: High integrity, resilience, discipline, and responsibility; ability to work decisively in the field to address unsafe acts or conditions.
- Communication: Adequate English proficiency for understanding technical terms and daily operational coordination.
