ABOUT US

We are a well-funded fintech startup building a credit product for Sri Lankan SMEs, operating within one of the country’s largest payment networks. We have proprietary access to key building blocks for a lending business that others cannot easily replicate.

THE ROLE

This is a zero-to-one role. You will be the first dedicated operations hire - responsible for building the end-to-end operational engine that takes a credit decision and turns it into a disbursed loan, a collected repayment, and a satisfied repeat merchant.

In the early months you are the operations function. You design the processes, make the calls, handle the escalations, and build the playbook that others will eventually follow. As the business scales, you build and lead the Team.

WHAT YOU’LL OWN

– Collections & recovery — strategy, execution, escalation protocols, and third-party agent management

– Merchant lifecycle — from outreach and onboarding through to loan completion or resolution

– Settlement operations — daily reconciliation, exception handling, and financial controls

– Cross-functional coordination — working across data, finance, technology, and shared services to keep operations running

– Process design & documentation — building SOPs that work at pilot scale and grow to 500+ merchants

– Operational reporting — portfolio health dashboards, collection metrics, and early warning systems for the founding team

WHO YOU ARE

– Have personally managed collections, recoveries, or credit operations end-to-end — you understand the mechanics, not just the oversight

– Proven track record of building and leading small teams from scratch, not inheriting a functioning machine

– Comfortable coordinating across multiple functions (data, finance, technology, shared services) without direct authority over all of them

– Builder mentality — you create structure in ambiguity rather than waiting for it

– Direct and proactive communicator — you surface problems early and own them
