The Opportunity

A well-funded fintech startup is building Sri Lanka’s first data-driven SME lending product, backed by an established payments platform with over 40,000 merchants and nine years of proprietary transaction data. The credit and infrastructure foundation is in place. What’s missing is the person who will build and run the operational engine.

This is a founding team role. You’ll work directly with the CEO, Chief Data Scientist, and strategic partners to take the product from pilot to scale. You’re not inheriting someone else’s processes — you’re designing them.

What You’ll Own

• End-to-end operational process design — building the workflows, playbooks, and SOPs that take the business from concept to execution

• Customer lifecycle management — from initial engagement and onboarding through to ongoing servicing and retention

• Financial operations — reconciliation, payment tracking, and reporting across multiple stakeholders

• Collections and recovery coordination — designing the approach, monitoring performance, and managing escalations

• Cross-functional coordination across operations, technology, data science, and external partners

• Partner and vendor management — coordinating with our payments infrastructure partner and third-party service providers

• Operational reporting and data analysis to track performance and flag issues early

Who You Are

• 3–5 years in credit operations, lending operations, collections, or merchant/customer operations at a bank, NBFI, or fintech

• You’ve built or improved operational processes — not just followed them

• A structured thinker who can take ambiguity and turn it into a clear, repeatable workflow

• Finance or accounting background is a strong plus — we want someone wired for detail and numbers

• Strong Excel skills and a data-informed approach to decision making

• Excellent communicator — equally comfortable with technical and commercial stakeholders

• A self-starter who takes ownership and moves fast without waiting for permission
