L1 Helpdesk / Junior System Administrator (Colombo, Sri Lanka)

One of our reputed international clients in Colombo is seeking a motivated L1 Helpdesk / Junior System Administrator to join their growing support team. The role focuses on providing first-level technical support, handling user issues, and assisting in maintaining IT systems to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.

The ideal candidate should be an enthusiastic and technically inclined professional who is eager to learn, capable of resolving basic technical issues, and able to escalate complex problems appropriately while delivering excellent user support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide L1 support by handling incoming tickets, calls, and user requests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve basic issues related to hardware, software, and networking.
  • Support end-users with Windows OS, email systems, and common business applications.
  • Assist in managing user accounts, passwords, and access permissions (Active Directory).
  • Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams with proper documentation.
  • Perform routine system checks, updates, and maintenance tasks.
  • Support IT asset management and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist in configuring desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
  • Maintain clear documentation of issues, solutions, and processes.
  • Ensure timely response and resolution in line with service level expectations.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 1–2 years of experience in IT support, helpdesk, or system administration (or relevant internship experience).
  • Basic knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, password resets, and user administration.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts (IP, DNS, connectivity troubleshooting).
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication skills in English (written and verbal).
  • Customer-focused attitude with a willingness to learn and grow.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
