Role Overview
As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and helping maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, invoices, and receipts
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations
- Help with tax filings and statutory reporting
- Collaborate with other departments to track expenses and improve financial processes
- Support audits and provide necessary documentation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Part qualification in a professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) is an advantage
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (startup or tech experience is a plus)
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cloud-based accounting tools
- Familiarity with financial analytics or dashboards
- Understanding of startup financial operations and scaling challenges
