We are on the loout for a skilled Assistant Accountant who can support our financial operations as we scale.

Role Overview

As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the finance team in managing day-to-day accounting tasks, ensuring accuracy in financial records, and helping maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone detail-oriented who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, invoices, and receipts
  • Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
  • Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and local regulations
  • Help with tax filings and statutory reporting
  • Collaborate with other departments to track expenses and improve financial processes
  • Support audits and provide necessary documentation

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Part qualification in a professional accounting body (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) is an advantage
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (startup or tech experience is a plus)
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with cloud-based accounting tools
  • Familiarity with financial analytics or dashboards
  • Understanding of startup financial operations and scaling challenges
