The Inventory Controller is responsible for ensuring accurate stock control, efficient inventory movements, and compliance with company stock management procedures at the Lae Retail branch. The role supports operational efficiency, minimises stock loss, and ensures product availability through effective inventory monitoring and reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate inventory records by conducting regular stock counts, cycle counts, and reconciliations against system records.
- Investigate and report stock variances, discrepancies, damages, and losses in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure all goods receipting, stock transfers, and stock adjustments are accurately processed and properly authorised.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse, Retail, and Administration teams to ensure correct stock handling and storage practices.
- Monitor slow‑moving, obsolete, and high‑risk stock items and provide timely reports to Management.
- Ensure compliance with company inventory control policies, SOPs, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Support internal and external stock audits by providing documentation and explanations as required.
- Maintain proper documentation for stock movements, returns, damaged goods, and write‑offs.
- Promote stock control discipline, accountability, and loss prevention within the branch.
- Perform any other inventory‑related duties assigned by Management to support branch operations.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and stock control initiatives are effectively implemented to support financial targets, minimise stock losses, and maintain cost control measures in line with company policies.
Qualifications/Experience:
- Diploma or Certificate in Busines Management, Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 2-3 years's experience in inventory control, stock management, or warehouse operations, preferably within a reatil or hardware environment.
- Previous experience working with inventory system or stock controller.
- Experience supporting stock counts, audits, and reconciliations.
- Knowledge of internal controls and loss prevention practices is an advantage.
- Candidate must be Lae Based.
General Skills:
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good understanding of stock control procedures, goods receipting, and stock movements.
- Ability to analyse stock variances and prepare clear reports.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and reliability.
- Good organisational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with Warehouse, Retail, and Management teams.
- Proficient in MS Suit Applications, ERP System (Pronto Xi is a plus), including Microsoft Excel and inventory systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
