Primary Objective

The Nursing Officer is responsible for providing high-quality nursing care and clinical support services to patients attending the medical facility.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care through patient assessment, triage, treatment, monitoring, and emergency response.
• Assist Medical Officers during consultations, examinations, and minor procedures.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, treatments, and perform wound care.
• Educate and counsel patients on treatment plans, disease management, and preventive healthcare.
• Coordinate referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of patient services.
• Maintain infection prevention and control standards, including safe handling of clinical waste and equipment.
• Ensure accurate patient records, clinical documentation, and reporting.
• Manage and monitor medical supplies, medications, and clinical equipment.
• Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals and support multidisciplinary patient care.
• Participate in staff training, quality improvement activities, and mentorship of junior staff.
• Promote a safe, professional, and patient-centered clinical environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned in line with the responsibilities of the position.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong clinical nursing skills, including patient assessment, triage, monitoring, medication administration, vaccinations, wound care, and emergency response.
• Sound knowledge of nursing standards, clinical protocols, infection prevention and control practices, and patient safety requirements.
• Proficient in clinical documentation, patient record management, specimen collection, and the use of electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
• Competent in medication management, pharmaceutical safety, and medical inventory control.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including patient education, counselling, and professional report writing.
• Ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals through effective interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrates compassionate, patient-centred care with a strong commitment to quality service delivery and customer focus.
