We are looking for an Associate Software Engineer (React / React Native) who is keen to build and maintain user facing features across Layup's React web application and its React Native (Expo) mobile app, working under senior guidance.This role turns designs and API contracts into reliable, accessible screens on both, so each tenant gets a consistent, branded experience on any device.

What You Will Be Doing:

Web front-end development (React)

• Build and maintain React components, pages and forms for the learner, instructor and admin experiences, using the shared component library and design system.
• Integrate features with Layup's Laravel REST APIs,handling loading, empty and error states.
• Apply tenant-specific configuration such as branding,themes and feature toggles without hard-coding per-client logic.
• Implement responsive layouts that work across desktop and mobile browsers.

Mobile app development (React Native / Expo)

• Build and maintain screens and features in the Layup React Native (Expo) app, reusing logic shared with the web app where practical.
• Support white-label tenant builds: per-tenant app configuration, branding assets and EAS build profiles.
• Implement and test push notifications, deep links, onboarding flows and device-specific behaviour on Android and iOS.
• Prepare and verify App Store and Google Play builds together with the Release Engineering team.

Security & data handling

• Keep secrets and keys out of client bundles, store tokens securely on device (for example Expo SecureStore) and avoid XSS-prone rendering.
• Respect tenant data isolation in every API call, cache and local store.

Collaboration & issue resolution

• Take part in daily engineering syncs, sprint planning and code reviews.
• Triage and resolve front-end and mobile bugs and support tickets, reproducing them on the reported browser, OS version or device.
• Maintain documentation for assigned modules: component usage notes, environment setup and build steps.

What We Expect:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience: 0-2 years of professional React or React Native development, or a strong internship or portfolio of shipped web or mobile projects.
• Technical competence (required):
  • Solid JavaScript (ES6+) and working knowledge of TypeScript.
  • React fundamentals:functional components, hooks, state and props, component composition and controlled forms.
  • React Native with Expo: navigation, Android vs iOS differences, and running builds on emulators and real devices.
  • Consuming REST APIs,handling auth tokens and managing async state (for example React Query, Redux Toolkit or Context).
  • HTML, CSS and responsive layout (Flexbox, Grid), and turning Figma designs into working UI.
  • Git workflow: branches, pull requests and resolving merge conflicts.
  • Writing tests with Jest and React Testing Library.
• Preferred:
  • Expo EAS builds, app store submissions and push notifications (FCM / APNs).
  • Working with a design system or component library.
  • Basic Laravel/PHP and MySQL knowledge for end-to-end debugging.
  • Exposure to multi-tenant or white-label products, or e-learning standards such as SCORM and xAPI.
• Behavioural competencies:
  • Attention to UI detail and consistency across screen sizes and devices.
  • Raises blockers early and explains them clearly in daily syncs.
  • Receptive to code review feedback and applies it in the next pull request.
  • Owns assigned tickets from development through to release.
