ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Computing & Network Support: Provides system operator support for the school’s computer system, monitoring system operation, identifying conflicts and making required adjustments to resolve issues, and providing system maintenance as required; Installs approved appropriate software with the relevant security rights to school pillars and staff; Maintains software for optimal efficiency in use, including backup and installation of updates, as per procedures and schedules defined by the I.T. Manager and/or SABIS® I.T.; Ensures data is entered correctly; updating users on relevant changes in the system, and, when needed, running specific queries that are not available in standard reports; Monitors the systems to ensure they are running smoothly and efficiently.
Hardware & Software Support: Installs and maintains hardware and peripheral components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, and disk drives; Sets up and maintains all I.T. equipment and software as per SABIS® procedures including the computer lab, the school LAN and all computers/laptops to specification; Assembles, installs, configures, maintains, and tests software used throughout the school operations and school computer equipment requiring use of standard interface protocols; Replaces defective or inadequate software packages and refers major hardware issues to external service personnel for correction as directed by the I.T. Manager; Establishes network users, user environment and directories; Hardware & Software Support: Performs hardware/software upgrades to existing computer equipment as needed; Develops and maintains software and hardware inventory and tracking systems; Develops and maintains an accurate inventory of the school’s I.T. equipment; places orders, stocks, and stores electronic components as appropriate; conducts regular audits; Acts as software support to the school community providing technical assistance to the school ITL Administrator(s), faculty, and administration staff; Responds to user requests for service and determines nature and extent of support required; Provides support or refers to the appropriate staff member; Provides training and support to users; responds and addresses I.T.-related issues in a timely manner; Completes periodic checks on the system usage to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
Security & Data Backup: Assists in the installation, upgrading and configuration of network printing, directory structures, rights, security and software on file servers; Assists in administering the school’s local area network (LAN), diagnosing common network issues; Ensures the SABIS® security protocols and procedures are strictly implemented, and ensures the security of the network, the network applications and the data; Assists in the backup procedures are strictly implemented and ensures the integrity of the backup; Conducts periodic checks to ensure integrity of network security and data.
Administration & Trouble-shooting: Supports, instructs and trains end-users in the effective use of the software including appropriate training on the use of the SABIS® software; Ensures all school management reports are run properly and in a timely manner; Assists in the development of school I.T. budget; Tracks usage and life of I.T. equipment, software and consumables to determine current and future requirements.
Internal Relationships: Works closely with the I.T. Manager, School Director, school administration team, and SABIS® Corporate I.T. team, and requests support as needed; Assists I.T. Manager in evaluation and testing of computer software and in planning for future needs.
Internal Reporting & Compliance: Implements SABIS® I.T. protocols, practices, and procedures in an efficient and timely manner; Ensures the proper implementation of, and compliance with, school/ SABIS®systems, policies and procedures; Completes and submits required reports in a timely and accurate manner; Reports challenges to the I.T. Manager and SABIS® Corporate I.T. in a timely manner and recommends appropriate action; Performs system maintenance tasks such as file saves and back-up in accordance with operational schedule and procedures; Performs system shut down procedures to include notice to all users; Maintains up-to-date expertise in the operation and application of the school’s computers and software; working knowledge of a wie variety of commonly used hardware and software; Recommends and assists with the development of policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the school. Meets expectations of regular, reliable attendance. Other Duties As Needed: Any other duties and tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate.
Job Requirements

Required: Associate degree from college or technical school in computer science or computer engineering or equivalent experience; Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience; Special technical knowledge of the techniques and procedures of software and network support for multiple users; Must understand installation, configuration and trouble-shooting processes for software, hardware, networking and accessory equipment; Requires sufficient analytical skills to assess issues or unusual situations and develop solutions; Federal, state, county, or city certification/credentials, as required; Federal and state education certification, as required.
