Responsibilities:
- Review project plans, specifications, and requirements to determine the scope of work and materials needed.
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Identify and quantify cost factors, such as time, materials, and labor expenses.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to gather necessary information for estimates.
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Use specialized software to calculate, record, and track estimates.
- Present estimates to management and clients, explaining the rationale behind the proposed costs.
- Participate in bid meetings and negotiations with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Update and maintain a database of cost information for use in future estimates.
- Monitor and track project costs throughout the construction phase to ensure they align with the initial estimates.
- Assist in the preparation of project budgets and financial reports.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
- 2-3 years of experience in civil estimating within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and regulations.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in estimating.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Professional certification (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) is a plus.
