Position Summary

Information and communications technology (ICT) and/or information technology plays an increasingly important role in the development and success of modern businesses; hence, it’s critical that IT/ICT teams are highly skilled and capable. Qualities such as accountability, crisis management and an ability to prioritise are essential to great IT/ICT roles.

As a tech-based educational ecosystem, IT/ICT is at the core of The BETA Park governance, management and operations.

The IT/ICT Associate is responsible for company-wide systems and information, all technological hardware and software maintenance, training and consultation, providing timely recommendations and the development of IT/ICT resources for the company.

Scope of Work

  1. Ensuring the smooth operation of the IT/ICT team in alignment with the business objectives of the company. He/she will plan, direct, coordinate and design IT/ICT-related activities, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT/ICT team.
  2. Taking a firm, proactive approach in dealing with external vendors and outsourced development associates. The role will manage and balance the expectations of the business within the framework of associates and resource limitations. He/She will keep abreast of latest technologies that may be of benefit to the company and make requisite recommendations, supported by documentation, costing etc. and present to the management.
  3. Providing strategic direction to IT/ICT operations and infrastructure ensuring that an appropriate technical support framework is in place, including the management and delivery of service support and service delivery.
  4. Working closely with decision-makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions. He/She will also define and implement ICT policies, procedures, and best practices for the company .
  5. Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT/ICT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages
  6. Managing and reporting on allocation of IT/ICT budget
  7. Ensure security of data, network access and backup systems
  8. Conducting regular IT/ICT system audits

  2. Designing training, learning and development programmes and workshops for associates
  3. Engaging with the broader IT/ICT scholarly and professional communities
  4. Participating and contributing to company-wide working groups or committees, as required
  5. Serving as a key resource person in IT/ICT field for the company
  6. Maintaining his/her own continuing professional development and lifelong learning practices.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in areas such as information technology, information systems, computer science, business management or engineering
  • Formal training and IT/ICT certification will be an advantage
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation

Work Conditions

Work is generally performed in an office environment. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Frequent walking, standing, lifting, guiding, or carrying of equipment and materials may be required. Working hours may vary and occasional evening or weekend work is required.

Negotiable and commensurate with the relevance of qualification, knowledge and skills and work experience required.
